Dr Shamila Lasanthi is a highly experienced and compassionate General Practitioner with over 15 years of clinical experience across hospital, community, and primary care settings. She is dedicated to delivering patient-centred, holistic care, supporting individuals and families through all stages of life with professionalism and empathy.
Dr Lasanthi completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2005 at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and has since developed extensive experience in general medicine, paediatrics, emergency care, and public health. Her career includes roles as a Medical Officer in emergency departments and outpatient settings, as well as a Senior Medical Officer in a specialised dermatology clinic, providing her with a broad and well-rounded clinical skillset.
In addition to her hospital experience, Dr Lasanthi has spent over 15 years working as a General Practitioner, managing acute and chronic conditions while building strong, long-term relationships with her patients. She has also held a key role as a Medical Officer of Health, contributing to preventive healthcare through maternal and child health services, immunisation programs, and community health initiatives.
Now based in Tasmania, Dr Lasanthi is committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based care and contributing positively to the health and wellbeing of the local community.
